Roger Johansson

Coach

”Swedish former ice hockey player who won gold at the 1994 Olympics in Lillehammer”

Roger Johansson started playing ice hockey in 1974 with his home club IF Troja-Ljungby.

In addition to playing for IF Troja-Ljungby, Roger Johansson mostly represented Färjestad BK (ten seasons) but also played for Leksands IF and NHL clubs such as the Calgary Flames and Chicago Blackhawks. Ragge also participated in several World Championships and Olympic tournaments with the Swedish national ice hockey team, Tre Kronor.

Roger Johansson was one of the key players in Färjestad’s successful team (Swedish Championship gold in 1997 and 1998) during the late 1990s, mainly due to his eager will and sacrificial playing style. ”Ragge” became somewhat of a legend when, during the fourth Swedish Championship final against Luleå HF, he took ammonia in the penalty box to endure one last shift. During the same playoffs, Johansson suffered a jawbone fracture but was still able to play thanks to a specially fitted helmet with an attached jaw guard.
